Happy George Hamilton Day!

Day three of the staycation was perhaps the best yet. After breakfast, the weather was fine and it was time for ice cream. We got to Westfield Heritage Village just before they opened the gates.

Hey Dad, is this where they keep the ice cream?

We finally tracked down the hand-cranked ice cream. The selection was mind-bending: ginger snap, blueberry, chocolate, vanilla and peppermint. Wow.

Nailed it!
The carnival games were tons of fun and we got to visit the village's newest addition: a house that used to overlook the last Canadian battlefield from the war or 1812. There were actual musket balls lodged in the wood siding!

After a short break, we zipped over to the mini-golf at Rock Chapel. I hadn't been there for a few years and it really is a premier mini-golf course. Proper bent-grass greens and everything. We made it through eight holes before the skies opened up. Good enough for a rain check - yay!

Wicked drive!
We rounded out the day with a BBQ. Mole chicken tacos with red cabbage and black kale slaw, avocados and field tomatoes. Heaven!

Mole!
